How to achieve real size product visualization like furnitures, home decors using Vuforia and user defined targets

June 6, 2016 - 12:06am #1

Hi All,

I wish to know how to develop an application that shows the products in its real physical size, We can achieve this using predefined Image Targets but i want the users to choose their own targets possibly with User Defined targets.

Is it possible to achieve with present vuforia features?

If not with vuforia is their any other way to achieve this?

Please share your thought.

Thanks,

Vivek

Thanks BlackFox for the reply, Your idea to solve the problem sounds interesting.

But i want to ease the life of user, we cannot always expect the user to have the ruler, that is one of the reason why i did not want to use predefined Image Target,

also i learned the most of the common users are not ready to take print outs, or do additional steps to explore AR.

If the user can see the products just by single click, they would be very much happy.

Can anyone please suggest any other way to make the users life easy and see the products at real size. If possible is there any way to do it with out any markers

Regards,

Vivek

Hi,

it's still impossible due to the lack of tracking hardware in the common devices.

With User Defined Targets, the scale of the 3D objects is linked to the height from which the target is acquired, so if you ask the user to acquire the target from a fixed height the scale should be right.

I had your same problem and I used a rescaling solution with an in-scene ruler.

The user can rescale the 3D object until the virtual in-scene ruler match a real ruler.
