how to get Camera Framerate and Resolution

August 23, 2013 - 1:20pm #5

I'm building an android app, and wanted to calculate the camera framerate (which is not the same as the rendering framerate) as well as the camera resolution.

I already know how to get the rendering framerate by checking the time delta at onUpdate(). But camera might be capturing frames at a different rate.. how can I get that camera rate, as well as the camera resolution?

any hints or example would be great.

The camera framerate is locked to 30 fps.

Thanks for the reply David, but what if the smartphone cpu usage is so intensive that it can't sustain the 30fps? I've seen this happen very often.

I suppose there's a programatically way to calculate the actual camera framerate...

isn't there any trigger like "a new frame is available on camera buffer" that I can hook up?

Let me check on what happens in such situations.

There is not a direct event that you can bind to for each new frame from the camera, but this example shows an exquivalent approach using OnTrackablesUpdates from the ITrackerEventHandler interface.
