How to get data of the marker being tracked?

January 13, 2012 - 7:02am #1

Is it possible to get any data such as color, size etc of the actual physical marker being tracker. Eg: I have the 2 markers printed. Both of different sizes. Can i get the size when each get tracked?

Thanks for the reply

Unfortunately getting the color would be of no use for me as i would need the size first. (Thats main priority). Will look into an alternative design to deal with this issue. Thanks

You can't get the physical size, but you could pull the camera image color from a particular point on the target. Note that these values tend to vary greatly in response to lighting conditions, etc.

In Unity, the simplest approach might be to use the new QCAR 1.5 Video Background Access feature and the Texture2D.GetPixel function to pull the color from the video texture at a specific point. You can use the Transform.TransformPoint method to take a point on the target to world space, and the Camera.WorldToScreenPoint method to take that point to screen space.
