How we can do this using Vuforia?

October 4, 2016 - 5:11am #1

Watch the video here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzDPNnMx8SM

They used Augmented Reality which uses a Target poster (drawn hat in the video).  Now, How can we acheive this using vuforia.

What is going in the video:

People are using their camera flash to detect the marker, and then the image save as with an added picture drawn using AR as camera detects the marker, as shown in the video. Does someone have any idea how can we achieve this using Vuforia?

Regards.

Thanks for the reply. You really cleared the idea pretty much to me. :))

Now, I really want to create something like this, as you said I need to place a "flat polygon like a quad and trasperent texture" I don't know if I could do this, can you help me about it, How could I create it or any example reference you want to provide.

Appreciate it.

Vuforia can easily do this since that is the primary point of it. You use the hat as a target, knowing that the poster will have white space above the hat. Then your augmentation is a flat polygon...like a quad...with a transparent texture of your message...positioned above the target (the hat). No flash needed. But the random passerby will need your app...which is why the agency that created the poster in your video isn't doing this at all...because no one has an app to view something they don't know about before they planned to see it.

They are just using their normal camera app...with a flash. So how does it work? It's reflective ink. The whole poster is made of normal ink, but the invisible part, while also being white, is a different ink layer...printed after the first ink. The 2nd ink reflects light differently from the first ink...because it is not the same ink. They want you to use the flash, so that the final result is you have a picture of their advertisement, but you could use a flashlight, too.

You can find information about this online. For example here: http://gizmodo.com/a-camera-flash-reveals-this-posters-secret-lgbtsq-suppo-1754923949
