Images instead of webcam for tracking?

March 16, 2012 - 2:59pm #1

Can we pass in images to the SDK in order for it to check for trackable areas instead of using the webcam? We have a use case where we may not have full access to the webcam but can use a still to show our experience composited atop the user captured image.

Are there methods that would allow for this within the SDK?

Thanks,

That would be a nice feature. Maybe make a 'mock' camera that can use pics or vids.

I've gotten more information on this question, and you can't actually introduce an image to the tracker. The ImageHeaderData will represent the image returned by the CameraDevice class, but there is no way to write image data to an Image class instance and submit this to the tracker.

Yes, I'm referring to the feed sent to the SDK from the mobile device's camera(s). I'll take a look at ImageHeaderData and let you know if this accomplishes what we're looking for.

You should be able to accomplish this by modifying methods of the CameraDevice class or overwriting the ImageHeaderData in QCARManager.

By webcam do you mean the camera on the mobile device?
