Indoor Position Tracking

June 2, 2014 - 4:36am #1

I´ve been working on positional tracking in indoor spaces. Imagine, we have a room (like a cube) such that walls, ceiling and ground are covered by some markers.

Problem Statement:

First the camera detects a marker on a wall (For example the front wall) then we are going to move and rotate the camera toward the ceiling. The camera detects the marker in the front wall and move smoothly until the front marker is partially occluded and ceiling marker is totally on the camera frame. At this moment camera rapidly jump from front marker to ceiling marker. So we witness a unsmooth behavior of camera!!!

Vuforia supports non-planner multi tracking for a cube in way the camera is outside of the cube and rotates around a cube! BUT what I need is putting the camera inside the cube.

ANY SUGGESTION ???

You can put the camera inside the cube by rotating the cube faces inward.

See: https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/multi-targets

Also you can set the world origin to that of the camera so that the targets move relative to the camera position.

See:  World Center Mode - https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/front-camera-support-0

Also have you investigated our Extended Tracking feature, and specifically the persistent technique? - https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/extended-tracking
