"Locking in" objects in order to use a single marker to arrange multiple objects.

Hey guys, I have a project here that I'm only just beginning to tackle so I thought I might post it here and if any of you have any hints, code snippets, or resources that you think might help I will be most appreciative.

What I'm trying to accomplish is this: on an android device I want players to be able place a unity object on a surface using a marker. Then when they are happy with its placement, press a button to "lock" it in to place. Then I want to be able to move the marker without moving the locked in object so that I can have a new object follow the marker and eventually be locked in as well.

Obviously, straight out of the box Vuforoia attaches the whole scene to the marker and that poses a problem. Any ideas on how to tackle it? I thought maybe separate unity scenes being merged somehow, but that seems costly and inelegant to me. What do you think? Thanks in advance!

"Locking in" objects in order to use a single marker to arrange

Hi maybe if I phrase this differently it might instigate a response. What I want to accomplish is say: have a normal unity object follow an image target. Then, when I'm satisfied with the positioning of the scene, take a "snapshot" of the world coordinates that from then on only that object adheres to. Thus, I can from then on move the target around as I please without affecting the object. It continues to occupy the same world space in relation to the camera, ignoring the target. Does that make sense?
