Long Startup Time

Hello every1

I am trying to make my own test app with an custom made tracker image.

The problem i am having is the startup time.

When the app is started (i get camera visual) then when i aim at the tracker the screen freezes for about 10-15 seconds. And then the tracking starts.

The tracking works just fine, but i was wondering if there is a way to speed up the initial tracking? Since the 10-15 sec. is too long for a good user experience.

Actually it is difficult to say what is a "general" limit to the complexity and number of models and textures, as this also depends a lot on the specific device you're running the app on.

However, I'm very happy to hear it is now solved!

i have solved both my problems. They seem to be caused by having to much models in my scene.

The startup delay is now gone. I have still the same scene, only i combined all of the meshes into 3 meshes.

i Find this behaviour a bit odd, cause now i get the message when i import that models are limited in polygon count.

 

For getting my black screen problem. this was caused by having to much textures (i guess).

 

The lesson seems to be to limit your model count and textures count. (last one seems logical, only what the limit is is unclear)

So Far it I have only tried it with the costum Target. I am going to try with the Sample and ill give an update!

 

I have tested it with the sample Targets and now there is no delay.

So i guess it has to do with my marker. I am using a pretty small marker may this be the issue?

 

i did found a new problem. If i texture my models i only get a black screen =_= (that is why it take so long to test)

Hi, do you observe the same behaviour with the ImageTargets sample ? or is it freezing just in your custom application ?
