Mirror video bug

I'm trying vuforia in a Tablet Android PIPO Max-M1, and the video appears mirrored, and don't detect the marker.

If I flip the marker in the photoshop, it detects the marker and appear the 3d.

I tried to flip the image with the "Mirror Video Background" Option, and the video appear well, but it still detect the marker in mirrored version. It seems that this option is only for visualization, not for the detection module.

Some others clients contact me with this same behaviour, exactly with a tablet teraware k707g.

It seems, that this "artifact" appears in some chinese tablet models, and is possible that it will be extensible to others tablets thanks to the low prize of this tablets.


Can you help me?

So after a bit of debugging I have found that the post processing layer on the camera overrides the mirror camera. After disable post processing stack this worked better.

Hi Alessandro,

thank you for the quick answer. Yes, stricly speaking, I know that this issue is by the hardware, but I thing that same way that you have added an option for "mirror video" in the case for just visualization,  it will be easy add an option, that mirror the video in the start of the process, that sends the captured video mirrored to the tracking (not after).

This option it will be very usefull for correct this issues in the tablets with this problem.

Think a tipycal app with this issue..., you can have a button option.."mirror video", and then  save the "state of the camera" for every time that restart the app and solve the problem. We will want to resolve this issue with this strategy, but unfortunately actually it just mirror the video, not the tracking marker.

Hi, we are aware of this issue; unfortunately the issue is due to an incorrect (flipped) camera image on those devices; so, strictly speaking, this is not a Vuforia issue;

however I have bounced your request up to our team, to see whether we could address this in the near future (but no guarantee about this).
