Multiple ImageTarget Object Interacting With Each Other

October 9, 2012 - 2:43pm #1

Hi

I'm working on a project where I have 2 ImageTargets in the Scene. The first one would have a character on it and the second a box. I've set it up so with on screen control, the character can walk around. The problem arise when I add the second ImageTarget. The box shows up fine, but when I walk the character over to the box, he appears over top of it instead of colliding with it eventhough I have a collider setup on it. And when I test it by dropping the box into the same ImageTarget as the character, they collide. It appears as if the object parented to each ImageTarget act independent in the scene and not part of the same envrionment. Am I doing something wrong? Please help.

Hi,

I am facing the similar problem with multi image targets. Is anyone able to achieve that?

hi shimpu,

Can I suggest you investigate World Center Mode?

https://developer.vuforia.com/resources/dev-guide/front-camera-support-0

World Center mode:

  • If set to USER, you can set up a single target as the world center. This target never moves in the scene; instead, the camera and all other targets move in relation to it, as long as it is visible.
  • If set to AUTO, the first visible target is selected to be the world center.
  • If set to NONE, the camera is fixed in place and all targets move in relation to it.

If you set this to USER, and specify your ramp as being the target that is world center, then everything else should move in relation to this i.e. the car.

I am also very much interested in this. Same situation. Except that I am using a car and a ramp (separate imageTargets). The usecase is to have the car collide (e.g.) jump over the ramp. But thats not working because they seem to be in different object spaces. Rendering is fine though.

Any directions on how to accomplish interaction between two separate imagetargets would be very much welcome. I have everything working so far (car physics, touch controls, ...).

Many thanks in advance!

What I want to do is to have at least 2 Image Targets in play at the same time. One with a character and another with environmental piece, like a barrel or a box, etc. Once they appear, you can have the character interact with the various elements. It just seems eventhough the elements appear on screen, they're not in reality opperating in the same environment. Is there a way that you know of to accomplish such a task?

Yes I expect that this is because they are both parented by different objects. What is it that you want to accomplish? What is the arrangement of your targets when the character and box are to be interacting?
