Place a 3D model in the scene...

September 22, 2013 - 3:07pm #2

Hi, I am just starting with Vuforia and I have a small question.

I was wondering, is it possible to set some model in a scene, say 180 degrees behind the camera. Then lets say the user turns around 180 degrees, the model will be in the camera's view?

Not sure if this is possible, it has no marker, it's just in the scene at a predefined position. When a user gets to that position the object pops up on the camera. Is such an effect possible?

Lets say for example I would like to make a ghost hunting game or something. I would place several ghosts in the area around me. Then as I walk around these ghosts should appear on my camera if I am looking at them and am close enough. I should then be able to shoot them or something.

Is such an effect possible?

You could use the device compass and accelerometer. The precision won't be as good as what you can accomplish using Vuforia, but it may be good enough for what you're describing.
