QCARWrapper

August 22, 2012 - 11:08pm #1

I am trying to use QCAR with mono and I thought that the unity extension would be the best place to start. However as far as I can see the libQCARWrapper.so is a bit of a black box. If there is an api or something with more detail about what functions are available, or ideally the source code, that would be great. Does anyone here know if i can get that?

As a sidenote, can anyone tell me if there might be any difficulty in using the libQCAR.so and libQCARWrapper.so in a context apart from unity?

Thanks

@DavidBeard

I don't suppose you had any thoughts on how this could be accomplished easily. Its just I've kind of moved on to trying to build my own simple tracker in opencvsharp, which will work I think, but Im a bit worried that I might be throwing the baby out with the bathwater.So if you have any help that'd be great, otherwise I'll just move on from qcar.

So I have a mono compatible c# app, which works on pc and I want to get it working on mobile, but my current AR tracker doesn't support it. I want to use Vuforia, but I am most comfortable working  in C# and the idea of creating my own C/C++ wrapper is daunting. So I thought perhaps I could use your wrapper as that is obviously already working well with C# code, and if i could use it apart from unity I would have a good test case and baseline to work from. However this is turning out to be more dificult than i thought, not to mention the possibility of me being in violation of the EULA. Do you think i might have to bite the bullet and build my own C/C++ wrapper or is there a better way you could reccommend?

@Alexjgray

Can you describe what it is that you're trying to accomplish?

Hello,

The QCARWrapper is not documented and is heavily customized to work with Unity. Using it in other contexts than in Unity may be against the Vuforia EULA .

Thank you,

Hi Peter,

Thanks for getting replying, I was wondering if you could point to the api for the wrapper on this site? Just I can't find it, and I know that the QCAR api is on here. If i'm going to use the QCARwrapper as is, in a context apart from unity, it would be helpful to have all the information about the functionality contained within.

Thanks

Hello,

Full API documentation is available on this website. Vuforia is not open source but we do provide sample application and code showing how to use the libraries. Have you looked at the sample applications?

You can develop native Android and iOS applications with the Vuforia SDK. Additionally you can integrate your Unity Vuforia project with a native Android or iOS project. The native SDK with samples can be downloaded from this website. If you do not have the Unity samples, you can download them from this website as well.

Thank you,

-Peter
