Samples don't run on Galaxy S6

I have tried the sample video playback app on my Samsung Galaxy S6 running Android 5.1.1 and Unity 5.1.2f1 and find that when the AR scene opens the screen displays two triangles that fills the screen the lower left flickering from white, red, pink and the top right black.

When I point at the stones target I see the video placeholder and play button

When I tap the play button the video placeholder turns black and I hear the audio

When I tap the black video placeholder the play button appears on a black background

And all the time this is going on the two triangles remain in the background flickering away?

I ran this test because my app I am developing works perfect on IOS (no surprises there) but I got this result on the Samsung so ran a brand new test project running the Vuforia samples

Hi,

I have attached a video to demonstrate the issue, but when starting to create a new project with the samples I thought to check the version of the SDK used in the failing app, looks like that one is using 4.0.105 ... so as we are now at version 5 I will try and recreate the project anew and see if it still happens.

  • Can you provide a 15-30 second video of the issue?
  • Are you able to reproduce this with the VideoPlayback sample?

Hi,

see the images that shows what happens on my Galaxy S6, the first image is pointing at my desk and the second is when it detects the target.  The target displays the 3D modle for about a second then the camera displays a "out of tune TV" look?

Thanks dm3d, I tried and tried and still no joy so in the end I recreated the whole project from scratch and followed the link re settings and it works now.

 

The only oddity is that sometimes when the AR first opens the screen is frozen with all zigzaggy colours that once I rotate to portrait the AR camera kicks in then the app works a treat.

It does not do this on IOS and only appears to do it on the S6 right on first open of AR view?

The VideoPlayback sample app works fine compiled with Unity 5.1.1f1 and running on a Samsung Galaxy S6 with Android 5.1.1. You might try creating a new Unity project, importing the VideoPlayback sample app and using the following Unity Player Settings:
