Saving user defined targets (that ole chestnut)

November 21, 2016 - 7:25am #1

I have read that as far back as Vuforia 2 folk have ben asking and adding to the wish list the ability to save a user defined target.  The last I read was "has it been implemented in V3? to which the answer was no.

We are now on V6 so...is this available yet?  I would like to give the user the ability to set a UDT and then have it saved so they do not need to keep rescanning each time they run the app.

Thank you for the well defined use case. I have included it as part of the existing feature request to be reviewed by our product team.

Sure.

I work in the educational arena and although it is easy to use a device based image target this would require us either sending out this image target to the student or them downloading a copy and printing it.

We are investigating the possibility of the student choosing their own image target to remove this need of sending/printing anything via the use of a user defined target.

This would possibly be a viable option for us and the student however if as at present each time they start the app or open the AR scene they have re-scan they choice of target, especially if they use the same one every time, the obvious complaints will come in asking "if I have already scanned my choice why does the app not save it for next use?"

Please let me know if you require more detail or wish to move to PM

Thanks

Hello,

Apologies but this feature is still not available.

Can you provide more clarity about the use case you're interested in? I've been working on capturing forum feature requests such as these.

Thanks
