Strange "tiling grid of camera views" bug on Android

October 26, 2012 - 1:51pm #1

Hey guys,

I've run into an interesting issue that has me stumped.  I'm not sure if it's specific to the Samsung Note or not (I haven't been able to replicate it on my Galaxy Nexus or Samsung Droid Charge), but it has occurred more than once on the Note (randomly and without a decent crashlog other than an obscure openGL exception error in the debugger.

I am building an AR game in which players launch a paper ball projectile at 2D characters on the image targets' surface.  Randomly, I'll see the camera show a "tiled" version of the camera's output in a grid of squares.  I have attached a screenshot link to show you what is occurring.  It happens sometimes when floating transparent 3D text meshes pop up, but I am not certain if that's the cause because I cannot reliably reproduce the issue.

Have any of you experienced this?  I am building against the latest Vuforia SDK.  Again, I haven't been able to replicate this issue reliably on the Note and not at all on other Android devices.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'm quickly approaching my deadline to ship this product and I still cannot give my client closure on the status of this issue.

I'm willing to work together with the devs to isolate if this issue is a Samsung Note specific issue, or if it's a QCAR issue, or any sort of tangible feedback that I can give to my client in confidence regarding this issue.

Bump?

Can anyone from the dev crew comment on this?
