Unity Pro or Unity Android required ?

AFAIK, today you can get the Basic Android support with the Unity Free license;

if you use the Unity Pro license, Android basic should also be already included,   but  in addtion, you should also have the option to add an extra Android Pro license in addition to the Unity Pro;   the Android Pro license adds some advanced features (see the Unity website for exact details).

This is a rought overview, but again, be sure to check the most exact and up-to-date information in the Unity website.

This is what I did initially, but the license comparisons are hard to understand. For example, if I compare Unity free with Unity Pro, it tells me that the Pro version has custome screens, streaming video etc. etc. which is fine. If I then click on the Android Pro extension link and choose license comparison it compares Android Pro with Android (presumably Android basic available on Unity Pro) It tells me that unless I buy an Android Pro license I have the same restrictions as with Unity Free. I guess what I'm trying to work out is: what do I get with Android Pro that I don't get with Unity Pro?  I'll head over to the unity forum to see if there's any answers, but if anybody here knows I'd be grateful for some clarification.

If you want to be sure to get the most correct and up-to-date information on what the Unity licenses (Free/Pro/Android) allow you to do, I'd recommend to check in the Unity website directly.

Unity Pro or Unity Android required ?

I'm confused by the licensing requirements for publishing AR apps for Android. I've been trialling with Unity Free, but now want to be able to add custom splash screens and use some of the other features not available in the free version. Can I get away with just a Unity Pro licence or do I need the Unity Android licence, or both? If I can avoid having to pay twice I would rather do so.

In terms of the competition this is fine, you can submit an app created with a trial version of Unity Android. I don't know of any limitations, other than a small watermark, which will not affect judging. Just be sure to package up your apk file while your trial license is active!

Good to know that the Unity Android trial will be available before the contest deadline!

Just to be certain, as long as we are within the trial period, would we be able to package/publish our app for the Qualcomm AR contest? If so, are there any trial limitations we should be aware of?

I have requested a code from Unity (and happily received a code!), and here's how Android Unity is installed:
It comes hidden within the Unity 3.1 build, and to activate it, you enter the serial number -then it is turned on.

It should also be noted that Unity Android it is requesting the Android 2.2 (API level 8) to be setup within the Android SDK when attempting to Build and Run.

Unity Android is available and works fine. Once you add it to your Unity license you will be able to select "Android" as the build platform under File/Build Settings. Then you can publish an .APK that you can deploy to your device.

How do you run the Android Extension?
As far as I can see it is not available.

I don't believe Unity Android is available yet... is there a special way to acquire it?

All you need to get started is Unity 3.1 and when you run the Android Extension, it will create the extension as an option when you fire up your next Unity project.

It all seems to work up until that point, however I don't know if you actually need Unity Android to publish. Is there any other way to publish?

Cheers,
Eric

Unity Android is required. I believe you can get a 30 day free trial from Unity's website.
