I'm experimenting with Vuforia for object tracking as a means to quickly prototype a Unity based experience for the desktop (ideally with Kinect although webcam is acceptable). The advantage of Vuforia is that I don't need to code the object recognition from scratch. I don't actually need the augmented view.
Instead I want to use a second in game camera which sees the gameobject in Unity change position and orientation as the external scanned object is moved in the scene. Are there are any reasons why this wouldn't work?
Also, are there any better alternatives experienced devs might recommend for this task? I've looked at Zigfu and the OpenCV for Unity but I'm not clear that those offer the best solution.
