Video Playback About Intro Page

January 13, 2014 - 2:43pm #1

Is there a way to quickly disable the default intro screen using the Video Playback sample application? I have searched high and low and cannot seem to find an option to disable this feature or even any documentation regarding the topic.

I solved this problem by modify the code as below:

// special handling in play mode:
		if (Vuforia.VuforiaRuntimeUtilities.IsPlayMode())
		{
			if (Input.GetMouseButtonUp(0))
			{
				if (PickVideo(Input.mousePosition) != null)
					Debug.LogWarning("Playing videos is currently not supported in Play Mode.");
			}
		}
I guess it might be these 2 scripts are not in same folder...

I know this is an old thread but up to now I haven´t found anyone giving a functional solution.

I solved it pretty easy. I followed the steps on the "How to build a simple video App" tutorial but, from the code they provided, I removed these lines:

/* special handling in play mode:
		if (QCARRuntimeUtilities.IsPlayMode())
		{
			if (Input.GetMouseButtonUp(0))
			{
				if (PickVideo(Input.mousePosition) != null)
					Debug.LogWarning("Playing videos is currently not supported in Play Mode.");
			}
		}*/

Of course, you will lose that function but it´s not really something very common and also you could redo that code in another way if you needed.

Also, in the tutorial they name the file: VideoPlayerController.cs

But in fact, it should be named: VideoPlaybackController.cs

If you do this, video will work just fine and the scene will be without the About screen and aditional options

Hi...

I've tried the tutorial, BUT I got this error:

Assets/VideoPlayerController.cs(107,21): error CS0103: The name `QCARRuntimeUtilities' does not exist in the current context

How to fix it?

thanks in advance

Should I be using the "VideoPlaybackAppManager" script in place of the default "AppManager" script? When I attempted this the videoplayback functionality was very buggy e.g. double tapping only, freezing, only playing full screen, video frame going black. Can someone please help?

Version: Unity 4.3.4f1 with VideoPlayback 3.0.7 sample application and building to xCode 5.1.1.

Any updates on this thread? I am in need of a simple script to disable the splash screen, about screen, and UI menu on double tap. It would be ideal if this could be an option in the Unity interface to simply enable/disable these features. Anytime I go to upgrade any of my video projects the previous methods seem to break. Any help on this would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi, any update on this?

I was troubleshooting the 2 days, starting from new scene and installing one plugins at a time to see whats wrong. But finally found out to be the SceneManager problem. I did manage to get it to work earlier on without the Splash/About screen. But required double tap to go full screen before I can single tap to play the movie clips. sigh.. so much time wasted.

Would they any way just to get rid the splash and about screen while retaining all other UI? This is kinda urgent. Need to present a prototype to client tomorrow.

Thanks!

Just to add some more detail here as to what the VideoPlaybackAppManager code should look like at the top for the changed methods:

    public override void InitManager ()
    {
        //base.InitManager ();
        InputController.SingleTapped += HandleTap;
        InputController.DoubleTapped += HandleDoubleTap;
    }

    public override void UpdateManager ()
    {
        //base.UpdateManager ();
        // special handling in play mode:
        if (QCARRuntimeUtilities.IsPlayMode())
        {
            if (Input.GetMouseButtonUp(0))
            {
                if (PickVideo(Input.mousePosition) != null)
                    Debug.LogWarning("Playing videos is currently not supported in Play Mode.");
            }
        }
    }

    public override void Draw ()
    {
        //base.Draw ();
    }

This should work, but does have the side-effect that the first time you want to play the video, you need to double-click on the icon.  I am looking into this, but hopefully this should be enough to get you moving in the right direction.

Ok, here is another approach which we tried and should work:

1.      No need to delete the Scene Manager. Instead, you need to modify VideoPlaybackAppManager.cs slightly to accomplish this.

2.      Open VideoPlaybackAppManager.cs – Comment out all calls to base class (AppManager.cs) – this will take care of not loading Splash, About or UI options.

3.      Override AppManager’s Draw() with an empty method.

By removing the SceneManager object I no longer have the ability to play/pause/stop my video. I tried adding the "VideoPlaybackUIEventHandler" to my AR Camera object in Unity but the video controls are still not working. I have attempted several combinations of including the Event Handler script to each object in my scene but without any luck getting my video to play. Please help! Thank you.

You can achieve this by simply removing the SceneManager object from the scene.
