Video stuttering when calling VideoPlayerHelper.Play(...) function (iOS)

January 25, 2013 - 6:37am #1

Hi,

I have problem using Video Playback Helper class on iOS. Once I call Play function, there is screen stuttering for about three seconds. It would seem that there are two camera frames that are stucked and displayd one after other while video is loading.

Here is exerpt from code:

public VideoPlaybackBehaviour videoPlaybackComponent;

.....

if (videoPlaybackComponent != null)

{
videoPlaybackComponent.VideoPlayer.SetFilename(iVideoURL);
videoPlaybackComponent.VideoPlayer.Play(true, 0);
}

Is there any way to fix this issue?

Yes, because the stutering frames are not from video. It looks like application takes last two frames (like buffer and back-buffer) and keeps alternating them for 2-3 seconds until it starts playing the video. These frames are not from the video, they are from camera stream.

Are you sure this stuttering is not due to streaming the video from the URL?
