Vuforia crashing under certain situations switching scenes

This happens on both platforms, I was able to debug out in xcode for ios the following:

The weird thing is it works fine, but if I do a certain set of steps and leave the scene, then come back to it, it only shows a black screen( video background isn't working) and vuforia isn't tracking, but my UI elements are still there and interactable.   The steps involve scanning a certain target, taking a screenshot, pointing at a different target, pointing back at the original, leaving the scene and then coming back to that scene, it'll be black....

 

I'm using unity 4.6.5 atm because we have a shipped release, about to upgrade to 4.6.9, but was wondering if there's any known reason for this behavior? Not getting any other errors raised...

Ended up fixing it, not sure why but for some reason using the OnTrackingLost events to trigger a UnityEvent set in the editor (to toggle a UI element when the content is found/lost) is causing the vuforia stuff to break if you switch scenes while viewing ar content. When you later come back to the scene it can't initialize qcar. Switching the logic to hide the UI element when you press the button to leave the scene instead of within the tracking code fixes it.
