Vuforia6 in Unity for iOS memory leak

Hi

About Vuforia6 in Unity for iOS  memory leak:

You said in the postings:  This issue was resolved in Vuforia 6.

But I vuforia6 debugging process, found that the problem is still there.

Reproducing step:

create new project in unity

import sample:  ImageTargets-6-0-114.unitypackage

input license key to ARCamera

build and run for iOS

Debugging on the real machine:

1. Click OK to start recognition

2. Double-click the screen, pop-up menu, click About to return about page,

3. goto 1, repeat the operation

In Xcode view memory usage, there are 20 ~ 30M of memory is not released, repeated execution has been accumulated, the final crash

My environment

Unity 5.4.0f3

Vuforia 6.0.114

Xcode 7.3.1

You iphone7 ios10.x test no problem, I do not iphone7, I use iphone6 ​​test has been the existence of this problem. Do not know where the problem lies.

Test in iphone6s ios10.1.1:

2.Launch Vuforia Detection / Tracking -> 106.4 MiB

I downloaded the latest 6.1.17 to test, the problem still exists.

I used four different devices to test, the same test method steps

1.  iphone6 8.2, iphone6 plus 9.3.5:

     these two versions no problem, memory usage and your test results are the same.

2.  iphone6S 10.1.1, iphone6 plus 10.0.2:  this problem still exists.

 

So it seems, iOS10.x only under the problem, where I do wrong?

test environment

Unity 5.4.0f3, Vuforia 6.0.114, Xcode 7.3.1

I try to use Xcode8 to build, did not solve this problem.

Hello,

We were unable to reproduce the problem. Here are the steps taken with corresponding memory info:

  1. First launch of the app Vuforia Samples Menu -> VM 25 MiB
  2. Launch Vuforia Detection/Tracking -> 76 MiB
  3. Double tap and exit back Vuforia Samples Menu -> 46 MiB
  4. Repeat 2 and 3. Same results as above i.e 76 MiB for step 2 and 46 MiB

The App does hold on to about 20 MiB of memory which is never released. But app didn't crash for 25 iterations nor did we see a 20-30M increase on every iteration.

Tested on iPhone7 with iOS 10.x and iPad Air 2 with iOS 9.x
