Is web-based AR app possible using Vuforia/Unity? I want to make a web-based AR app. I've tried in2ar, FLARtoolkit but I didn't find them very useful. Functionality of Unity and Vuforia is very straightforward and easy. I tried building the sample app for web-based, flash player but couldn't make it work. So please tell me if it is possible and if it is please guide me!! Thanks in advance!

not sure what the use case of the OP is but im currently working on the branding and an art exposition for the university laboratory I work at. We would like to use AR in our visit cards, banners, and in some art objects in the exposition. But, in our past experience, very few people take their time in downloading an app for such an specific purpouse, and that they will have to remember to delete in a close future. An web-based application would make possible that all this was made in a website, in wich people could have this use without the necessity of downloadin anything. This asset, once implemented, could open a huge branch of possibilitys. I hope you can see it too.

It would be very useful to have a web AR app that runs on mobile (with split screen for cardboard too). The potentiality is enormous.
I hope to see a very straightforward workflow for web based AR experience to build in Unity and Vuforia, especially now the 5G networks are spreading all over the world, assuring fast data transfer.

While Vuforia and Unity works great, I find that a lot of users don't want to download an app
so this becomes a barrier to entry. Web AR would allow users to experience augmented reality
from their mobile web browser.
It would be great if Vuforia cloud recognition could be extended to work for mobile web browsers.

It really seems very important to me today to be able to handle applications from the web, for example, many users do not like having to download something since they may have little space on the device or something that they will soon delete.

Our clients are demanding this solution and we will have no other option except to migrate to another Augmented Reality service.

If you'd be interested in using Vuforia Engine within the mobile browser I suggest creating a feedback thread here and highlighting detailed use-cases on why you're interested.

I have developed an AR app in vuforia as a university project and I took it for granted that it would be available for web.
I found out the hard way that it is not the day before the presentation and I redid the project with Aframe.
I am not blaming anyone other than myself -I should have researched it- I just want to say that it would be very useful to support web apps

I really don't understand why vuforia is not pushing Web app harder ...
it seems so obvious that on user perspective it is much easier (safer too) to just type an URL rather than downloading an App. And this is true for any type of application.

It's not enough just to create an application, you need to promote it in a search engine so that users can easily find it. Vuforia only supports iOS and Android devices. There's no way to build apps for the Unity Web Player.
