Which unity license needed?

June 18, 2012 - 2:28am #1

I need to write an app with QAR and unity extension in which different 3d objects are trackable and also a video will be displayed onto one of targets. Is the iOS unity license(not pro) sufficient for that and for selling via appstore?

Mainly I just compiled the Unity/Vuforia sample code on the free version and it worked, when I probably did not expect it to. It was a pleasant surprise :)

I have not actually created an app with Unity/Vuforia and put it in the app store, though I expect it should be possible. Basically it makes sense when you read the unity free/pro differences in that plugins are a Unity Pro / Mobile feature:

Yes, you can sell your app with Vuforia and the Unity Basic for iOS and Android. :)

Hello, NalinS. You are now able to create vuforia apps and sell them in apple store with just this license ?

Hi virt

I managed to get the free version of Unity with the iOS add in working with the iPhone add on (non pro), which fortunately at the time was completely free, but now that is probably the minimum that you will need to pay for.

Probably the best thing to do is to try it out and check it is what you need.
