Aligning 3d object perfectly with real world view: is Vuforia's perspective transform precise enough?

May 6, 2018 - 5:51pm #1

Hello all,

I am trying to align a plane, with material/texture the keyboard of a piano, with a real piano. The problem is that it doesn't align perfectly. Here is a video of my problem: https://streamable.com/cfkv7 When I finally achieve an one-on-one mapping with a few keys of the image other keys start to deviate.

What is the cause of this problem?

  • Is my texture/material just not correct?
  • Is Vuforia's perspective transform not precise enough? Should I correct it myself by editing the projection matrix?
  • Is it because the plane is mostly "outside" the marker, hence the jitter etc?

I already tried a lot of things but I really don't know what to do anymore. Could somebody please give me some advice?

Thanks in advance!
