ARM64 support for Unity Android

January 14, 2019 - 7:16am #1

I recently updated to Unity 2018.3 and so far the ARM64 is working great, but I noticed that Vuforia does not support ARM64 on Android. Is that correct? And if yes, is there any information, when it will be supported?

Hi, I would like to confirm that arm64 is working in Unity 2019.1.6f1 and vuforia 8.3.8. Just tested and works nicely. Cheers.

2018.3.0f2 is the minimum version, the newest 2018.3 should work fine.

I saw that in your recent version (Vuforia Engine v8.1.7) you added support for Android arm64 to the Vuforia Unity Extension. But what version of Unity do I need for this?

There is no support for ARM64 into Unity with Vuforia.

Vuforia, please, it's not just the developers from this topic, ALL the Android developers need to update the apps to arm64, which so far is not possible for the apps using Vuforia in Unity.

We really need, urgently, a fix for this issue. If not, you are basicly throwing away Vuforia for Android in Unity, since it will not be possible to launch, or even maintain old Android apps without arm64 support.

Waiting for answers.

Yes, I confirm there is no support for ARM64 into Unity with Vuforia. I still have a black screen each time I try to launch my app when compilied with ARM64 IL2CPP into Unity 2018.3.3. I'm using Vuforia 8.0.10 for Unity 2018.3.3 on Windows 10.

The situation becomes critic, in August 2019, Google will refuse all apps for the Play Store which are not compiled for ARM64 and API26. We won't be able to use Vuforia anymore with Unity for Android at this time.

Thanks for your support.

Hello,

Yes, my mistake and you are correct: Vuforia Engine currently *does not* include arm64-v8a builds in Unity.

I've started a dialogue with the product team to better understand our product roadmap for support.

Apologies for the previous misinformation and any inconvenience.

Thanks,

Well yes you are right that you support Android 64-bit in your native variant, but I'm in Unity and there it does not.

I've exported an .apk with Unity 2018.2.20 for 64-bit and there were no Vuforia files included in that build under arm64. Starting Vuforia on a 64 bit device also gave me an error that it can't find the VuforiaWrapper.dll.

I've also checked back to this Unity site (https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/unity/arm64-support-unity-android) and there it says that Vuforia does not support 64-bit.

As far as I know we need to provide 64-bit support, because in August 2019 you need this to update your app. (https://blogs.unity3d.com/2017/12/20/meeting-google-play-requirements-in-the-future/)

Hello,

For Android we support armeabi-v7a (32 bit) arm64-v8a (64-bit) and x86 (32-bit).

Thanks,
