Back camera for positioning and front camera for marker tracking?

May 21, 2018 - 6:11am #1

Hi,

I was wondering if it is possible to enable both cameras to be active, the back camera to be used for tracking the device pose, while using the front camera to do marker tracking? If it is, any tips on how this could be achieved? I tried looking into the configuration option in Unity and it allows you to choose either front or back camera.

thanks a lot!

Back camera for positioning and front camera for marker tracking?

But is there any way that this could be achieved with scheduling, so that the cameras are not active at exactly the same time?

I have the Mira Prism AR headset where the camera which points in the same direction as the user head and sees the user FOV is the front facing camera, while the back camera is pointing up and can see the ceiling. Hence, I would like to use the front camera for marker tracking, and then the back camera for positioning with the ARKit. The preferred option would be of course to do positional tracking and marker tracking with the front camera, but ARKit doesn't support the front camera. If you have any tips on how to go about this they would be greatly appreciated!

Most/all devices don't support using the front/back camera at the same time.

So no, not possible.

I can't think of a situation that you want this?
