Camera on phone is not an option?

March 23, 2021 - 3:04am #1

i can see from videos and other posts from like 2014 and 2015 that the option to enable "Vuforia Augmented Reality Supported" and then select the phone as the camera was an option but i don't see any of those options anymore and in 2020.1.6f1 it says XR is deprecated so how do i make it so that i can use my phones camera now in the newer version? i thought it had to be where the WEBCAM, SIMULATOR and RECORDING options where but it isn't. I'm new to Vuforia and have very little experience with AR but i have developed in unity for the past 4 years. Anyway hope you can help with a quick answer.

Pleae ignore the part with you need to enable Vuforia Augmented Reality Supported, this is being done automatically once you installed the SDK with the latest release.

In order to use the webcam select WEBCAM and you should see the Camera Device. If you don't have any webcam connected/recognized by the system, the field next to Camera Device will be empty.

If you want to use your phones camera as a webcam, depending on the platform (Mac/WIndows) you will require a software which will recognize your phones camera as a webcam. Once the pc.mac OS sees the phones camera as a webcam, it should appear under Camera Device. However this may work or not :) it really is trial and error.

Please note to always restart Unity when trying to connect the phone for the webcam, to ensure that the changes are being picked up by Unity.

Thank you.
