Can we use Vuforia virtual buttons without using an image target?

May 12, 2017 - 6:33am #1

Hi - Am trying to see if we can we use Vuforia virtual buttons without using an image target? all examples I see are implemented with image target only. But I want to see if I can use them just like normal buttons, without using any image target, in an AR app. Pls let me know if it is possible, and link to some examples on the same, if possible.

Note: I tried to just place a virtual button on a canvas, but it gave an error that no ancestral image target properties was found for the virtual button. This makes me to believe that it can be used only with image target. But wanted to confirm with experts too. Thanks.

Hello,

Virtual Buttons detect when underlying features of the target image are obscured from the camera view. Thus, to have a Virtual Button, you need an Image Target:

Thanks.
