Clarification about future plans for Unity 2019.3

January 27, 2020 - 1:07am #1

I'm creating this topic regarding this announcement in Unity Blog:

https://blogs.unity3d.com/2020/01/24/unity-xr-platform-updates/

Vuforia is no longer supported in 2019.3 and beyond.

Vuforia will remain supported in 2018 LTS, and developers can continue using Vuforia in their existing projects.

Lot of questions arise at this point for development teams focusing on 2019.3 on long term.

What is going to do Vuforia Team about that? Is going to provide the support that Unity doesn't? New Vuforia versions are going to work with 2019? What happens with future Unity version?

We would need a precise clarification about this issue from Vuforia team, since this is critical matter for current and future projects we are working in.

Thank you. Regards

Hi.

We just posted an answer as sticky note here: https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/unity/vuforia-supported-20193-and-beyond

"The information on Vuforia no longer being supported in the blog post above is *incorrect*.

Vuforia Engine supports Unity 2019.3 today and will continue to support upcoming Unity versions in the future.

What is changing is that the Vuforia Engine package will no longer be distributed by Unity, but can be easily obtained from an NPM registry hosted directly by Vuforia/PTC. Check out this article to learn more:

Thank you.

Please can we get a response from the Vuforia team about how it intends to respond to the recent Unity XR platform updates mentioned above.

This could have big implications for us as we use Vuforia in multiple projects and will soon need to upgrade to later Unity versions.

Thank you.
