Deformed camera image on Android Builds

August 7, 2019 - 5:37am #1

Hello,

I am having issues with the autogenerated background plane that renders the camera image, the image is being streched on the bottom of the screen

Everything else works fine, the image targets are being detected and positioned on the the screen,

  • Unity 2019.1.7f1
  • Vuforia 8.3.8
  • Using LWRP 5.7.2
  • The app also uses Cardboard VR framework, but not at the same time with Vuforia

This problem is only present on Android, iOS tests worked fine, also the editor works well on Windows with a webcam.

I am really frustated because I have tried lot of things but nothing works, camera device mode is set to MODE_OPTIMIZE_QUALITY, and changing it does not fix the problem..

Any idea of why is the camera image broken?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

The workflow that we test is creating a new project using the LWRP template (option at creation time), and then import Vuforia.

UPDATE

I have tried the Core Samples wihout any change and worked fine.

Then, I switched to the LWRP and the background image is broken, the image is streched (producing a zoom alike effect) and rotated 90 degrees.

I have observed that turning on the "device tracker" option makes the image to be squished at the bottom of the screen, I saw the same error when I was trying to solve it.

So... now we know where the problem comes from.

The steps I follow ti switch to LWRP are:

  • Install the package from window->PackageManager
  • Right click on content browset Create->Rendering->Lightweight Render Pipeline->Pipeline asset
  • Edit->ProjectSettings->Graphics select the created pipeline asset
  • Edit->RenderPipeline->Upgrade Project Materials to LightWeightRP Materials

Looks like the last step just broke the material, I am investigating about it..

Hello,

Thanks for answering,

The issue is persistent in a Xioami MI 6 and a Xiaomi Redmi 6A, so I suposed that would do the same in other Android devices.

I am trying the unaltered Core Samples from the asset store, I will post any updates when finished.

Hello,

The video background looks squished due to a rendering issue. To confirm whether or not this is Vuforia Engine related, can you run our Core Samples unaltered (free on the Asset Store) and see if the issue persists. If so, please provide the device model.

To find an Android device's model number: Settings->About phone/device->Model number

Thanks,
