How does the license model work

September 6, 2017 - 12:15pm #1

Hi

I have read the licensing options but I am new to AR and I am unsure how it works. I have created two developer apps using Unity and will now try 2017.2.

Let's say that I create a single app and I want to distribute it locally within my organisation and maybe to agreed people who work with out organisation.

How does the process work, what are recos and how do they register with Vuforia when a client uses the app?

In addition I would like to develop for the hololens (via Unity). What is the licensing model for this?

thank you for your help

Hey barkest,

I edited my initial response with some updated information. For the use cases you are describing, I'd recommend reaching out to the sales team to discuss the proper licensing. They are the experts on this subject and will help point you to the correct license and use case. The link to get in contact with them is https://developer.vuforia.com/contact-sales

Thanks,

Yes this is what I mean and also as a proof of concept. I have not distributed it but is it ok to give the .apk to someone else?

thank you

Hello barkest,

When you say distribute it locally within your org and partners, do you mean distributing it for testing purposes prior to a launching on an app store for a broader audience? Or do you mean distributing it internally as a tool for your company to use in day to day work? This changes the type of licensing required. The prior generally falls under pilot licenses. The latter of these two is an enterprise license. You'll need to speak with our sales team about these types of licenses.

Recos are when a target is recognized by an app with the given license. For example, the cloud license allows for 10,000 recos per month, meaning the app allows for 10,000 image recognitions from that cloud database in a given month.

The Hololens is a UWP device, which requires a pro level license to deploy.

Feel free to reach out to our sales team for further questions and/or pricing inquiries on licensing. You can reach them via this form: https://developer.vuforia.com/contact-sales

Thanks,
