Image Based Tracking at Angle

November 12, 2017 - 11:08am #1

I would like to track an image.

The user is likely going to have the image laying flat and hold the camera at a 45(ish) degree angle.

The resulting video feed and image based tracker would look like this

I am getting poor image target recognition, despite having Camera Device Mode switched to Speed.

Are there any settings I should use to improve image based marker recognition?

Is it worth creating my image based markers to reflect this perspective?

For example

In general, the larger the angle of incidence, I would expect the less likely the image tracking would work well.  Setting Camera Device Mode to Speed probably spends less time and does a poorer comparison.  I would try switching the Camera Device Mode to MODE_OPTIMIZE_QUALITY.  Though, the main problem may be expecting images to be recognized too far from a perspective parallel to the image surface normal.
