iOS Crisp screenshots and recordings - focus?

Is there a way to obtain higher resolution screenshots - the native camera app is able to produce more crisp images than Vuforia's camera stream. 

 

I've tried forcing onstart/onenable continuous autofocus (which I assume was already enabled by default) - I'm not sure what the difference between that and trigger autofocus is on iOS? 

We're locked to 720p in Vuforia 7 because of the ARKit integration.   Vuforia 6 can do 1080p (on newer devices) if you're able to downgrade your app and not using ground plane you'll get better quality.
