Model Target Drifting Problem

June 30, 2019 - 11:45pm #1

Hi there,

We are using Vuforia Model Target for recognizing some machine parts for a project. In this we are facing a prominent drifting problem when the device is moved slightly away from the original machine part. Please refer to this video:

I tried playing with turning extended tracking On and Off, as well as toggling Vuforia itself between AR and Non-AR scenes in our project, but nothing seems to help. Could someone please help and suggest a solution? Thanks!

I think the issue here may be at least partially related to how the car's fuse box differs from the Model Target's guide view. For example, the "top" of the guide view shows all fuses being present. However, the car's fuse box is missing at least one of those top row of fuses. This one was most obvious to me. The quality of the video makes it difficult spot others.

Short-term suggestion is to update the 3D model used to author the device database in the Model Target Generator to *not include* parts that may be missing or moved in real life.
