For more far distance stability, is there any plan to support for google Depth API or apple's Lidar sdk?

Hi~

I'm using Vuforia image target for some room-scale chemical facilities.

My target image is approx. 14 cm x 10 cm image with good ratings.

Image tracking is good within 50cm from image target.

I need more stability for far distance within 200cm. And I think..

google's depth api or apple's lidar can help this..

So, is there any plan for these applied for future vuforia?

I wonder. :)

Thanks for reading.

Best~

Hi,

Vuforia supports ARCore and ARKit. through Vuforia Fusion. ARkit is already taking advantage of the lidar sensor and in this case also Vuforia benefits from this.

I am not aware of if ARCore is already using Googels depth API but if so, it will definetly improve the performance.

In regards to your target not tracking well at 2m, You can estimate the minimum size that your target should have by dividing your camera-to-target distance by ~10. For instance, a 20 cm wide target would be detectable up to a distance of about 2 meters (20 cm x 10). Note, however, that this is just a rough indication and the actual working distance/size ratio can vary based on lighting conditions, device camera properties, and target rating. The latter point is covered in the following article: https://library.vuforia.com/articles/Solution/Optimizing-Target-Detection-and-Tracking-Stability

Thank you.
