Multiple ImageTargets

June 21, 2017 - 4:21am #1

I have an AR scene with an Image Target that augments a light fixture model.

I want users to be able to see what its like to have 2 of the light fixtures by placing a second (duplicate) Image Target.

However, when I set the Max Simultaneous Tracked Images to 2, it doesn't augment on both trackers.

I've read some threads saying that it isn't possible to augment the same content on the same Image Target multiple times, but they were from 2012, I'm hoping this has changed now.

Can anyone help?

Multiple ImageTargets

Hello,

Vuforia currently does not support the ability to track multiple instances of the same image target. This is a common feature request that is under evaluation by our product team.

Have you considered using VuMarks? https://library.vuforia.com/articles/Training/VuMark. I just did a quick evaluation using our core sample app and found that the SDK can detect and track two of the same VuMark instances simultaneously. Note that the core sample has pre-packaged VuMark instances included in Assets/Editor/Vuforia/ForPrint/Vuforia-VuMark-Instances-00-99.zip

Important note: You will need to increase the Max Simultaneous Tracked Images to a number greater than one (1). We recommend that you do not exceed tracking ten (10) simultaneous targets.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.
