multiple targets to single target when combined

July 16, 2018 - 2:33am #1

Hey all, I'm kind of new to Vuforia and I was wondering if it's possible for Vuforia to recognise multiple targets (e.g. a photograph of a face divided across 4 squares) as a single target when the squares are connected. Right now Vuforia recognises the individual targets + the combined image target simultaneously, but ideally it would stop the individual targets as soon as it sees the combined image target. Would be very helpful if anybody has any suggestions how to achieve this. Thanks in advance.

multiple targets to single target when combined

This is not built in. You'll have to code this.  Just keep track which targets are currently tracking in OnTrackingFound and Lost and if all 4 are currently showing, hide there contents.  Is #5 an actual target or are you going to generate a transform based on the 4 squares?  I'm wondering if you'll get some false positives by actually using the 5th target, like when 3 squares are showing it will still detect #5.  If that's the case, you may have to do some math and calculate distances between the 4 targets and see if their centers are in a square formation.

Multi-targets might help, but it may show the content even when 1 or 2 of the squares are showing, so probably won't work in your specific case.  This example is a box but no reason it can't be flat:  https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Training/Multi-Target-Guide.html
