Portrait Orientation

We have a scene setup to use portrait orientation only, but the AR camera appears to have been rotated 270 degrees (Z) by Vuforia / Postional Device Tracker.  This is messing up the scene orientation (i.e. objects appear to being placed their side instead of upright).  This didn't appear to be the case back in 9.8 (and Unity 2019).

How can we correct/configure the AR camera rotation for use in portrait mode?

Additional information:
This rotation of the camera occurs when the app is deployed to a device (Android, iOS not tested) and not in the Unity Editor.

Vuforia Version: 10.2.5
Unity Version: 2020.3.22f1

Hi there,

Can we get confirmation this is a known issue and if its being addresses or get assistance in correctly configuring a SKD 10 scene for portrait orientation?

Thanks.

Hey both,

Again, sorry for the delay. I've tested with my Google Pixel 3 XL and reproduced the issue and raised it with our R&D.

Thanks for confirming the issue. Please let us know if a fix is likely to be rolled out with the next Vuforia update (and if possible an ETA) or if there is a temporary workaround.

Issue was also reproduced on an iPhone 7, iOS 14.7.1, so it doesn't appear to be an Android specific issue.

Are there any available versions of Vuforia 10 available that support portrait based orientations correctly?

Thanks

Hey everyone,

mocom, thanks for sharing your device model.

Currently there is no ETA on the issue and no workaround but will respond back as soon as I hear more.

Kind regards,

Patrick Scheper

Hi Patrick,

Any updates on this issue or possible work arounds?

Regards,

Andrew

Hi everyone,

Thanks to your feedback over the past months we've been able to solve the issue with our latest release of Vuforia Engine (v10.4.4).

Have a good rest of the week!

Kind regards,
