Recognize statues in a museum

May 13, 2019 - 12:26am #1

Hi, I would like to create an app in Unity that is able to recognize, as per title, some statues inside a Museum. What is the best practice for this scenario? Is it possible to have some solid recognition even if the lightning are not optimal?

I attached an example of a statue that I'm thinking to recognize

Recognize statues in a museum

Hello,

We are aware of some developers that have been experimenting with Vuforia Engine's Trained Model Targets datasets for recognizing statues: https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Solution/trained-model-target-datasets.html

In practice this has worked, but additional steps have to be taken when authoring the 3D model file before it is used by the Model Target Generator to make detection robust. This includes using different colors on the model when there are different materials or areas of interest on the real object. While Model Targets is designed to detect objects by shape, giving additional information by the use of false coloring will often greatly improve detection robustness.

Additionally, once you have confirmed the detection and tracking of a single bust, adding them to Trained Model Targets datasets can help to reduce false-positive detections.

Thanks,
