Setup to test on Unity without webcam?

December 17, 2019 - 3:27am #1

Ok.. this is a bit weird question: I've been toying around with vuforia for a short while, using mostly a combo of SparkoCam and my DSLR. I'm doing several tests right now on how to manage the basics of the scene, which comprises turning it on and off A LOT, which makes the mirror going up and down lot of times, which is something I don't want to do to my camera.

So, I'm looking for alternatives, ideas or whatevers on what to do to being able to setup a decent testing environment; the straightforward option is just getting an actual webcam, but AR is the only use I have for it, and can't really justify the expense for this develo I have a mobile phone and a tablet, and I've been looking around an app called "IP Webcam" or something like that, but I would like to know if there's other option around there I could take a look to (Specially if they are open source). I'm on Windows 7, btw.

  thankyou

Setup to test on Unity without webcam?

Hi,

We recommend the use of the webcam as it ensures some stability in your development workflow.

Some devs have also used their android phone camera as webcams. You need to make sure that your pc is recognizing the android phone camera as webcamera. Afterwards it should be picked up by Unity/Vuforia.

Thank you.
