I'm wanting to use a cylinder target for tracking an object - but the cylinder is quite short; shaped like this:
It only has a texture on the side - so when I try and and set this up as a Vuforia Cylinder target, the side image comes out super pixelated. This means that it can't be tracked well at all. Is there any tips or tricks would be helpful in setting this up as a good cylinder target that will allow for more detail? Worst case scenario I can try using lots of image targets to make up the cylinder but I'd imagine the stability wouldn't be as good.
Hi,
Thank you for the provided information.
I can confirm that the Image Target in unity is just a preview image. Basically the pixelated Image Target in Unity does not affect the tracking etc. it is just there for authoring purposes, it represents the fact that you have a cylinder target.
This being said, cylinder targets where not tested on such a big scale (in your usecase: diameter of over 36m). In our examples we use smaller objects like cans to demonstrate the feature.
If you have the image target already printed, I would suggest to test it and see how it behaves.
Thank you.
