Unity UWP License Error

November 7, 2017 - 4:53am #1

Hi all,

I'm currently developing an AR app for UWP using Unity. Everything works fine in the Unity Player, but when I'm trying do Build for UWP I run into problems...

Using "Build & Run" in Unity the app starts without any complaints and everything looks right, the problem is that recognition of my VuMarks just doesn't work. When I open the generated Solution in Visual Studio and start debugging however, the code breaks at some native Vuforia code.

Since it seems to be related to the license key, I tried setting up a new one (free Developer License) and even generated a completely new account, but that didn't do anything.

The "____licenseKey0_marshaled" variable seems to be correct (the same as in my developer account, as far as I can see...).

I'm guess this is some kind of bug. I'd be thankful for any help!

Hi,

I got the exact same error described here. After doing the following steps, the problem was fixed, although I don't know which one was the step that actually fixed it.

- delete the contents of the build folder (the one created by unity)

- in the Unity build settings choose Hololens (my project was configured for hololens)

- build again in unity

- when Unity finished building, open the resulting il2cpp project and enable all capabilities in the Package.appxmanifest (maybe you can also enable the capabilities in unity in the player settings)

- then I built with the debug configuration and after it deployed to the device it actually worked.

same issue, it seemed to happen all of a sudden. I meanwhile updated Unity, Vuforia to the latest stable versions and I can't even start a new project.

I pasted the correct LicenseKey, it runs without any error or warning in the editor.

AccessDeniedException has been thrown while I built it on Unity UWP Platform

June 12, 2019 - 2:00am #21

I got into the same situation.

With

*Unity 2019.1.6f1

*Vuforia 8.1.11

I got Access Denied Exception while booting app,and then nothing appear after I ignored that exception.

While I play it on Android or Unity Editor platform,I never got such a problem.(neither PhysX Error has not raised)

How can I solve it?

Hi Strasza!!

I was wondering if this process works to generate a .exe file for windows 10?

What versions of Unity and Vuforia are you using? Do you see any errors in the logs?

Thanks,

Hi,

i have the same issue but with hololens. i followed your installation guide - execpt the step with the execution of the powershell ps1 file - because hololens does not support deployment other than apsx files.

Any Idea?

The app is staring shwoing the windows ... then window disapears and the "unity" logo appears ... then nothing happend and the app is started again...

I still see the crash if I install the package and then run it :(. The app starts just fine and then it silently terminates!

What happens when you run the app package you create? This shouldn't be attached to VS and shouldn't result in this crash.

Your app name does not need to match the license name. Could you share a screenshot of the crash please?

Sorry to hijack this thread. But I'm running into this exact same issue. I am using the free license. I tried both running directly from VS and also by installing the created app and launching it from the start menu. Should the name of my app match the name I used for the app when I created this license?

Hi Strasza,

Thanks for your detailed description of the process. I have Unity and Visual Studio installed on my Microsoft Surface Pro 4. Running directly from Visual Studio gives me the before mentioned error. However, running from an exported package does work! I'm very happy. Thank you!

Hello again,

I created a new project in Unity 2017.2.0f3 with a free development key to test this again. I'll provide the build steps I used as well as some additional information to confirm you have set below.

Build Steps:

  1. Open Build settings in Unity
  2. Select UWP and set Build Type to D3D and SDK to Latest Installed
  3. Press Build (NOT Build and Run) and select the directory to build your Visual Studio project to
  4. Open the generated VS project
  5. Right click the project in the Solution Explorer window and navigate to Store -> Create App Packages...
  6. Select 'No' in the window that pops up and press next
  7. Disable the ARM architecture and then set the x86 or x64 architecture configuration to Release or Master (Master recommended, don't select Debug here)
  8. Press the Create button
  9. Once the project has built, the AppPackages directory within you VS project directory will contain the files needed to run the project
  10. Transfer the project to your Surface
  11. Run the .ps1 file included in the AppPackages folder with PowerShell
  12. Hit 'Enter' and 'Y' when prompted
  13. When this is complete, run your app with the .appx file

Alternatively, you should also be able to run the project through VS directly on the Surface, but you'll need VS and Unity installed on your Surface to create the needed projects.

Additionally, ensure that in Player Settings -> Publishing Settings -> Capabilities you have 'InternetClient,' 'WebCam,' and 'Microphone' check and included.

Can you confirm against the steps described above and that you have those values check and let me know if you still encounter the issue you are seeing?

Thanks,

Vuforia Support

Hi Strasza,

Thanks for your reply, I did not subscribe to this thread so I'm glad I noticed it just now.

To answer your questions;

1) I purchased my Classic key Nov 04, 2017 13:05.

2) I did a test with a free development key ; exact same error

Hello theolagendijk,

When was your key purchased? Do you see this if you use a free development key as well?

Thanks,

Hi Jan and Vuforia support,

I'm having the exact same issue using Unity 2017.2.0p3 with it's build-in Vuforia SDK 6.5.25.

Visual Studio project get's generated properly. Project get's properly build inside Visual Studio ( in my case Visual Studio 2017 ). But when I run the application I run in to the same issue that Jan describes ( but in my case in English );

Exception thrown at xxx in yyy.exe: Microsoft C++ Exception: Platform::AccessDeniedException ^ at memory location xxx. HRESULT:0x80070005 Access is denied. WinRT information: Access is denied.

Error is triggered on this line of code in Bulk_Vuforia.UnityExtensions_2.cpp ;

int32_t returnValue = il2cppPInvokeFunc(____licenseKey0_marshaled);

I looked into ____licenseKey0_marshaled and recognize it as the Vuforia Classic key that I bought for this Windows UWP app.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Jan,

I have not been able to reproduce this. Building a UWP project from Unity 2017.2 with Vuforia generates the VS project that will build to device. This project functions as expected. Could you share a screenshot of your build settings, Vuforia Configuration, and Player Settings -> XR Settings (for UWP)?

Also, when you are building, are you pressing "Build" or "Build and Run?" For UWP, you'll need to press "Build" and the open the VS project that is generated and build the project from there.

Thanks,

Hi Strasza,

I still couldn't find a solution to this on my side. Is there any progress on Vuforia's end?

Cheers

Thank you for your time!

I'm sorry, this is the second account I was talking about in my initial post. So as I said: Unity 2017.2.0f3 + included Vuforia.
