Use Fusion. How?

To use Fusion, does the device necessarily support ARCore or Airkit?

And another question. Is there anywhere a normal tutorial (video, for example), on the use of Mid Air?

How to setup our project to take advantage of Fusion? For example for iOS, do we need to add ARKit plugin too in our project? This is my concern but if we expand the question and since ARKit is no longer in the Asset Store, do we need to add ARFoundation to our project or only enabling Vuforia is enough to take advantage of ARKit and ARCore features?

Hello Lucas,

That is correct, Fusion is not part of VIP but just a general feature of the Vuforia SDK.

Fusion will utilize ARKit/ARCore to empower Vuforia features automatically. We are currently utilizing ARKit for Ground Plane and Model Targets, with ARCore support coming in the near future. We will continue to utilize these platforms for other Vuforia features as the SDK continues to improve with future releases.

Thanks,

Hi,

If i understand right Fusion is not part of the VIP subscription and is then part of the normal subscription process from this page:

https://developer.vuforia.com/vui/pricing

Can we expect the same performances as native ARKit/ARCore?

Does it mean that same code gets redirected to appropriate platform? I mean that the APIs are abstracted under a Vuforia API so that the same line code is used on any platform or is there still a need for specific platform code.

Currently, if an app needs to run ARKit and ARCore, it means two sets of code for each platform, this is what I would hope to avoid with Vuforia.

Regards

Lucas

Well, what I want to say as developer. You could have make this clear in your Fusion page, and I'm really disappointing on this.

Hello mradmid,

Fusion is used automatically "under the hood" in Vuforia. Use our APIs as normal and Fusion will automatically be used by devices that are currently able to take advantage of it.

Our Ground Plane sample demonstrates use of Mid Air. I'd recommend looking at that project and seeing how it is set up.

Thanks,
