Which language and Database should I use for Unity?

November 6, 2020 - 4:06am #1

Hi guys,

hope you're all well.

I am working on making a program.

Here's the use case:

I have a collection room in which I have 1500 products. Even though we try to rack them properly, yet we can never find anything easily primarily because everyone in the company keep using samples and putting them back in different place.

So I want to make an AR program.

Program:

I saw this video on youtube for finding a book in the library.

A person would walk in the aisle with the AR program activated in which he has searched for a particular book. When he walks in the aisle where the book is kept, the program notifies. That's what I am trying to do. VidMate

Technology:

I am using Unity, Vuforia engine for this.

----

I have played around with unity a little. Made a basic program where the program recognizes an image from the webcam and displays another image over it.

I am confused as to what should be my next step.

I am guessing, making a database and storing the product data?

Please let me know if this is correct. If not, then how should I proceed forward.

Moreover, I have experience in PHP. But a better language for AR/AI is Python. For android it's java and for iOS it's C sharp.

What language should I use?

And which Database should I use? Is PHP going to work? Or should I go firebase or SQLite?

Please let me know answers to all my questions as it is very important.

Thank you so much.
