Why Rotational Device Tracking doesn't exist in Vuforia 9

November 13, 2020 - 2:53am #2

Hello,

I'm trying to make an augmented reality app to move in the space between enemies, but with the recent version of vuforia, the rotational option no longer exists, so my enemies stay fixed in the camera yet I move my mobile, how can I fix it with this recent version? knowing that for the vuforia version 8.1 it was by choosing the rataional option

I'm uning  "Unity 2019.4.11f1 (64-bit)" with "vuforia-package-9-5-4", for android

Thanks

Why Rotational Device Tracking doesn't exist in Vuforia 9

November 24, 2020 - 12:09am #1

Hi,

Rotational Device has been deprecated as mentioned in the release notes: https://library.vuforia.com/articles/Release_Notes/Vuforia-SDK-Release-Notes

Support for slot-in viewer type devices and Rotational Device Tracking have been removed. Please see the Vuforia SDK 8.3 release notes for more information about the API. If you need 3DOF tracking, you can now use the PositionalDeviceTracker and use only the rotation part of the pose. For any optical (or video) see-through stereo rendering application, you will now need to use third party integration that you can combine with device pose from the Vuforia API.

NOTE: that in this release we have also deprecated VIEW_POSTPROCESS in View and the adjustForViewportCenterToAxis parameter of the RenderingPrimitives::getProjectionMatrix method.

API documentation has been amended for DataSet usage and its life cycle.

As mentioned in the release notes, the alternative is to to use the PositionalDeviceTracker and use only the rotation part of the pose. More info here: https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/reference/unity/classVuforia_1_1PositionalDeviceTracker.html#details

Thank you.
