Multiple similar target

Hi, I want to ask.

If we have similar product and we want to make AR app to show each of their information (which each of them has different one to another), what can you suggest to solve this?

For example, 10 Pringles container with each of them hide different code.

  • Marker based: cannot multiple similar marker, one marker is unique to another
  • Model target: probably only one registered similar target at one time
  • Other: I don't know

Hey there,

 

This is always an issue when the targets are very similar. You must differentiate your targets enough so that this issue doesn't appear. You could look into VuMarks. These could be used to create a 'general' trackable AR target that could differentiate different targets.

Hi Mr. Patrick, thanks for answering!



So, by any means, for now we don't have kind of system that able to detect similar/multiple identical markers. What I understand now is Vuforia use natural feature recognition, so it able to detect the target (marker, area, model, etc.) by its natural shape and complexity. Because of this algorithm, every shapes with each their unique registered feature will considered as single unique object. So that is why it won't able to determine two or more identical markers/targets. Is this true, or there is something I miss?

Anyway, I will looking for more about VuMarks. Thank you for the suggestion.

Hey,

 

It depends on the feature. For example, Vuforia's image-based tracking is focused on the feature points that are extracted when creating the target dataset. Underneath you can see an image and the feature points that will be tracked.
