I have to choose what plan: bronze, silver, gold, or platinum. You know the price of these plans are quite different!

If offline reco usage is unlimited, we can use the cheapest plan 'bronze' $99/mo, because we don't use cloud service.

I just said it, if you don't want a watermark the limit applies to offline or cloud recos, no matter what, if you are fine with the watermark, then you have unlimited offline recos with the free plan

Does this mean that if a customer downloads an app, gains tracking and then loses it many times over the course of one 5 minute run of the app... is that many times we're paying for "recos"?

Let me see if I understand:

• For apps deployed without a plan, you get unlimited offline (local) recos, but you only have 1000 cloud-based recos
• For apps deployed with a plan, you only get the specified number of recos, counting both offline and cloud-based recos. So if I chose the Bronze plan I would 5000 recos a month total, meaning if I had 5000 offline recos I'd start getting charged for every reco above that

This is from a close reading of the pricing page.

So this implies that the only way to get unlimited offline recos is to deploy without a plan and accept the watermark, because choosing a plan limits your offline recos, while not choosing a plan does not. Is that correct?

The deployment plans enable you to remove the watermark and are based on usage. Please contact the Sales team if you have if you have different needs for your application.

Okay, but that's not an answer to the question I asked, and I have contacted sales about the question I asked and have not heard back from them yet. Would it be possible for you to answer the question directly? In paid plans, are both offline and online recons counted towards the limit? Answering that question should be an easy yes or no.

Yes, until they change it, that's what it says:

A 'reco' occurs when your app recognizes a image or object. Deployment plans include a certain number of recos per month of all users of your app.

They then specify a different number for cloud reco, which has it's own definition.

Just had it confirmed via email that my understanding was correct. Free plan, no limits to offline recos. Paid plans, limits refer to both offline and cloud-based recos. A custom "platinum" plan could possibly remove those offline limits, I was told. Also, supposedly more information on this point will be coming, as we have been told.

Charging for offline recos? That's simply crazy. I await their updates in the next day or two...

Why is Qualcomm changing the pricing model anyway? Did they communicate any reasonable argument for the change of their business model? Is there any reasonable change of the AR business model? What should I say to my customers? "Qualcomm needs more money": -Is this the answer? Is this this the way I should convince my customers?

I am new to Vuforia

I am developing image detection app where i am using vuforia imagetarget. I am going to use device database. Also  please let me know that

is there any limit on image upload in databases? I think in single database we can have max 100 images, so we can make multiple databases to cover 1 lakh images

Is there any limit in image scanning by app?

I want to know the cheap and best plan that suit my requirement?

Please anyone help me how i get this information

Vuforia's recommendation is a maximum of 1000 Image Targets in a single device database. However, there is no hard limit to the number that can be included.

That being said, you should be mindful of the amount of memory and CPU that your application will use when loading a large device databases. Vuforia adds each target in the device database to a dynamic search tree in your app's memory. Dynamic loading and unloading of device databases can be utilized to optimize memory usage (see DataSet APIs below). This technique can also help with CPU utilization during detection and tracking as Vuforia will require additional processing when attempting to detect large numbers of Image Targets in each camera frame. This is especially true for target detection, which is more CPU intensive than tracking.

If you are attempting to utilize more than 1000 trackables, then we normally recommend our CloudReco products: https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Training/Cloud-Recognition-Guide.html. There are two 'flavors': SDK APIs and Web APIs. Upon successful recognition, SDK APIs will return a single Image Target trackable (based upon the closest match) for 6DoF tracking experiences. Web APIs will return a prioritized list of target IDs, in match confidence order, but do not support 6DoF tracking experiences.
