Dataset migration 3.0 to 4.0, how?

February 10, 2015 - 2:13am #1

I'm testing the new 4.0 SDK in an existing Android project.
The project is using a device dataset with about 80 objects, build in the 'old' 3.0 Target Manager..

Is there a easy way to import the 3.0 dataset into the new 4.0 Target Manager?

Thanks,

Dataset migration 3.0 to 4.0, how?

With today's release of Vuforia SDK 4.2.3, the ability to download partial quantities of targets to a DataSet from a Device DB has been restored.

I understand the reasoning behind capping the target limit to 100, but can't quite seem to understand why "a DataSet cannot have less than the full amount of targets in a Device DB at the time of its download."

Is there any reason why this functionality couldn't be included? It would be (and was) a great feature to be able to have several markers within the one database, as it makes it a lot easier to manage content.

Prior to 4.0, the capability for a Device DB to hold over 100 targets necessitated the ability to select and export partial DataSets that would accomodate the restrictions of the Vuforia code which prevents more than 100 targets from being loaded into memory at any one time.

The result of the new Target Manager 4.0 design is that a Device DB cannot exceed 100 targets and a DataSet cannot have less than the full amount of targets in a Device DB at the time of its download.

I only just saw this thread after creating this one: https://developer.vuforia.com/forum/vuforia-40/target-manager-does-not-allow-you-select-trackers-downloa

Is there any reason for the removal of the partial selection? It's an important part of our pipeline, and I'm not sure I see the benefits of removing that functionality.

With Vuforia 4.0, Device DBs cannot exceed 100 targets and when choosing the option to "Download Database" to a DataSet all targets are included. The option to download a DataSet with only a partial selection of total targets has been removed in the Vuforia 4.0 Target Manager.

Found the problem myself:

If your device database contains more than 100 targets, the download button is grayed out, even if you have only 1 target selected!

I the past, SDK 3.0, the number of selected targets was triggering the download button, what make sense imho.

It look like it's a (small) bug in the Target Manager 4.0.

P.S. Does someone knows if it's possible to remove a Licence Key from a database?

Dataset migration 3.0 to 4.0 OK, but how to download?

February 26, 2015 - 3:23am #6

Thanks for migration of the 3.0 databases to 4.0, save a lot of time, but .....

I have added an new LicenceKey with no plan, we only use device reco's to an existing database, so fas so good.

The only problem is: I can NOT download the database, the "download database" button is grayed out, and yes I have selected a couple of targets.

What can be the problem?

Thanks from a rainy Holland!

You will be able to migrate your 3.0 databases to your 4.0 apps.

Thanks but what about device databases created in the 3.0 Target Manager, do we need to re-create them as well?

Thanks,
