Video Playback With black screen error

Hello. I have this problem with an app that I'm developing for Galaxy Tab Pro "8.4.

When I try to run the Android app on my galaxy Tab, I can't see through camera. The camera detect fine the target image and I can see the video running, but all the rest are a black screen.  I searched this error in Vuforia forum and also in Unity forum. This is an old issue that happened in earlier vuforia sdks, and the answer of the moderator was  everytime that in the future with a new upgrade of vuforia this problem are going to be  resolved.  I'm using Unity 5.0.0  and Vuforia 4.0.105. I don't know if the problem is with the setup of the app ( I use the unity default setup for Android), or with some vuforia script.
Please help me, because I have to buy a vuforia license for my app, but I can't buy a license if this don't work.

Thank you for your help.

Regards,

Javier

If Unity 4.6.4f1 is working with ImageTargets 4.0.105 on the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4" (4.2.2) and Unity 5.0.0 (version you reported earlier) is not, there's a couple things to try:

  • Comparing the Android Player Settings in both Unity projects (4.6 & 5)
  • Downloading latest release of Unity 5.0.1f1 and possibly patch updates (5.0.1p3 released today) to see if that fixes it

http://unity3d.com/unity/qa/patch-releases

Also, when testing the ImageTargets 4.0.105 in Unity 5 for the Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4", you should make sure to create a new Unity 5 project and import the ImageTargets package into it versus opening and converting an existing Unity 4.6 project over to Unity 5.

As I posted, Image Target 4.0.105 doesn't work in Unity 5. I had to downgrade to Unity 4.6, and it worked. But this is a problem, because the Augmented Reality is one part of my app, and the other parts must be done using Unity 5. In the past, when vuforia was free, I really didn't have problems with it, Now I have to pay and  it does not work. Please help me, I need urgently fix this problem.
Thanks.

Does the ImageTargets 4.0.105 sample app work? Also, you might want to try Unity 4.6.4f1 as well if you are experiencing crashes in Unity 5.

Yes, the problem is that, the camera is not rendering properly, but I can track the image target and see the video projected on the image with a completly black background. The video playback sample works fine, but have two problems. First, it have this error that if I select in the hierarchy tab or in the scene tab one of the image target first, Unity will crash. Also this sample have the vuforia splash image and  a menu explaining this sample. If I try to hide  or delete the game object that contain the script to show this vuforia green logo screen, the video don't work.  So I decided to follow the tutorial to build the scene from zero. I'm using Android 4.4.2 on my galaxy tablet. Thank you for your help.

From your description, it sounds like the camera feed is not rendering, but the AR tracking is working. Does the ImageTargets sample app work okay?  What version of Android are you running?

Hi dm3d. I followed the tutorial using the 4.0.105 Video playback sample. And I compiled my project to an .apk using Unity 5.0.0. And the result is the described in my last post. I don´t know if the last vuforia release have this problem with UNity 5 or I'm doing something wrong.

I Hope to get some help to correct this.

Thanks!

That tutorial is almost a year old and written prior to the Vuforia 3.x release. The 4.0.105 samples have been updated to support Unity 5. If you compile the VideoPlayback 4.0.105 sample app to your device, does it work?
