Fail Status when uploading

Hello,

We've created a VuMark. In Illutrator, it passes the Verify script and we can export it without a problem. But when we upload it in the target manager, it fails but we don't know why.

We tried increase the size of the clear space, but that didn't help.

any ideas?

Hello,

We've had a chance to review the design with the following feedback:

  1. The border/contour/clearspace is set up incorrectly - please see attached current.png. A way to fix this would be to scale down the outer border, so it's adjacent with the white clear-space. The contour-line needs to be adjusted to be on the adjacency line - please see attached proposed.png
  2. The design is rotation symmetric (despite the bits not placed regularly). Thus, your design will not be optimized without the advice in the 'Advanced Topics' section on how to place Asymmetry Markers described in https://library.vuforia.com/content/vuforia-library/en/articles/Solution/Designing-a-VuMark-in-Adobe-Illustrator.html
  3. The design is pushing the limit of 'maximum angle limit between contour segments is 150°.' - This means: the shape is too round. It is difficult for computer vision to make out the corners where the contour bends, especially if the printed VuMark is small. Having a polygon with less then 11 sides could e.g. help, or placing the corners not on all circle as well.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Vuforia Engine Support

Hello!

Did you have a chance to look at the file? We can't move forward with the VuMark until we solve that problem. Thx for all the help!

Hello,

We cannot review the particulars of the design without the SVG file uploaded to the Target Manager. Can you provide that? Feel free to DM me a link if you're not comfortable with uploading here.

Thanks,

Hello,

Thank you for your answer.

Now I can't seem to be able to solve the problem with the Border and Clear Space. I don't understand why because they both are compound paths and they don't reach over the magenta indicator.

I'm sending you a screenshot. What did I do wrong ?

Thanks

Hello,

Apologies for the inconvenience. We will continue to improve the VuMark Design to help identify failures before uploading to the portal.

In the meantime, please also review the following information provided in the VuMark Design Guide, which is packaged with the VuMark Designer tool: https://developer.vuforia.com/downloads/tool. There are hints contained within that must be followed closely to insure successful processing by the Target Manager.

  • Section 5.6.2:

"Both the Border and Clear Space must be compound paths."

"If you’ve designed your Border or Clear Space with a path that has a simple stroke width, you can use Illustrator’s “Object->Expand…” or “Object->Expand Appearance” to convert it to a compound path. Any “Appearance Attributes” that are assigned to your shapes, paths, or objects in your VuMark must be removed prior to exporting as an SVG."

"You can use the Appearance Panel’s menu option “Reduce to Basic Appearance” to remove the Appearance Attributes."

  • Bright and Dark Element Layers HAVE to be above Contour

Thanks,
